Will elliptical machines make my thighs bulkier?

Question: Will elliptical machines make my thighs bulkier?

(Posted by: SugarKiss on 2010-02-28 15:25:43)

I& #039;m a 25 yr old female trying to lose weight. My thighs are pretty bulky. I love using the elliptical machines at the gym, and I usually use it for an hour each day, if I have time. I& #039;m just wondering if I& #039;ll end up with thicker thighs because of added muscle mass, or if the machine will slim my thighs down instead. I have the resistance at 3- 4 usually, and the incline at 10. I usually burn about 600 calories after an hour. thanks for any help! lol no i& #039;m not light at all. unless you meant setting it at a light setting. I& #039;m also naturally muscular, without lifting weights, so that& #039;s why I was semi- concerned. My thighs have a lot of muscle to begin with.. they just have fat covering them now. lol

Some ellipticals have a display which shows which muscles you 're exercising depending on incline and resistance. You should also be able to get personalized advice from a trainer at the gym.

If you 're light you won 't gain much muscle at all, and if you do it won 't be very noticeable. What 's wrong with bulky thighs anyway? Guys like girls with nice developed thighs. Also your leg muscles are your biggest muscles, so if they grow they increase your metabolism.
